Tribute

Roy Lichtenstein (October 27, 1923 – September 29, 1997) was a prominent American pop artist, whose work borrowed heavily from popular advertising and comic book styles, which he himself described as being "as artificial as possible".

Simple forms or lines has always been an obsession of mine and, after watching an hour long interview with one of the great pop artisits of our times, I decided that a simple tribute to the likes of Warhol, Lichstenstein or others of the 60's movement was in order. I love "benday dots" as they make things precise and direct and explempify the great American creatif process as I saw it many years ago.

The AXA Center in NY has a grand mural, painted by Roy Lichestenstein. If you live in NY or are in NYC Take a lunch, walk around, it's free and grand!

The Bond Factor

I have always had a fascination for the older James Bond films, The music, the racy lines, the ultimate display of male chauvinism. It is a breath of fresh air in the current "I am thinking what you are saying but am afraid to admit it" I do not know anyone who doesn't like James Bond, especially guys. Many years ago, I remember riding in a real Aston Martin DB5, THE Bond car. I have never forgotten those few miles, between school and home, soaking up the smell of leather and teak. The only Bond car I can afford these days is a small replica with little headlights that actually work when operated! Keeps me dreaming though!

Who Are You?

A couple of days after my previous post, I decided to accept an invitation to "jam' at a local watering hole with some friends. I could hear Pete say "watch for the changes and try to keep up" Ok, so I am no Pete Townshend on guitar, but isn't it about having fun and just making music?, not that I suck, but it's quite obvious that I was working that tricky chord change that I can never remember...One day!

Do I look like Pete Townshend to you?

So I am out, having dinner, when a gentlemen walks over to me and shakes my hand. Hey Pete!, he says, remember me? we worked on "Tommy"! The blank stare in my eyes as I slowly released his hand made him realize that he had the wrong person. Not deterred, he returns with a camera, and with one arm around my shoulder he mutters, "wait until I tell my friends about this!" !CLICK!

09:00 Conference Call....

Sometimes, during calls, I will doodle with a few colored pencils I keep in my bag! While others drone on, I pleasantly drift, just enough to keep my world a reality.

Goodby Love

I am not one to dwell, but I find a painful irony in how two lives can be utterly undone by a rubber stamp.

Reflections

I had started this series on "reflections from another pane" in 2005. The idea that the way we see things are not always what we think they are intrigued me. Examining the world through reflections is my way to observe on an intellectual and creative level, versus an assumption. We have been trained to expect certain things when looking at them. This series is an attempt to redefine the world we really move in.
